Whitton in Bloom - Smithy Bungalow
One of the newer and smallergardens open for the Whitton in Bloom weekend, Smithy Bungalow garden was created about five years ago from part of a field after a new house-build, and is now maturing nicely. Old walnut and damson trees are set off by lavender-edged gravel paths, with a seat under the walnut trees to while away a summer afternoon in the shade.
A rope-style pergola supports climbing roses and clematis, with a copper cascade in the centre to give the pleasant sound of water. On the west, a gravel garden looks onto distant views of the Brecon Beacons and Hay Bluff (677 metres high).
