Preb Alan Jevons

We send our best wishes to Alan and his family as they move to pastures new. We thank Alan for his work and guidance amongst us and we hope they will all be happy in their new home and parishes.

We are pleased to announce the safe arrival of Melchi Lee, a son for Andy and Sue McPherson and a first grandchild for Oli, born on May 21st weighing in at 5lbs 1oz.

Rogation Sunday

Due to the torrential rain we were not able to take the planned walk after the service and therefore the rogation prayers were said outside the church under umbrellas. We thank Peter Mason for leading our service - his first visit to Whitton. After the service we enjoyed refreshments at Whitton Barn and send thanks to our hostess Oli.

New Gate

During our service on Sunday 27th May and despite the pouring rain, led by Revd Sue Foster we proceeded through the churchyard to our new south gate. This gate, made with oak from our churchyard, is in memory of Peter Ellaway Dunn, our Churchwarden from 1989 - 2002. Revd Sue dedicated the gate with moving words. We were pleased to welcome Michael, Nick and Sue, Peter and Pat's sons and daughter-in-law.

This fine gate together with a section of fencing and new paved pathway has been constructed by Stuart McGuinness, Tony Easteal, Barry Winn and John Salisbury. We send them our hearty thanks for their craftsmanship and dedicated hard work. Please come along and look at the gate - but they are not taking orders!!

The scaffolding has been erected on the north side of the tower and part of the north nave wall. The exploratory work began on Friday 8th June in order for the report to be presented to English Heritage.

A thought from the Pastoral Team of Bambamarca

The poor of the world are thirsty for justice and for peace,
Their journey is unending till hate and oppression cease.

The Lord of Heaven is thirsty for justice and for peace,
His battle is unending till hate and oppression cease.
