Parish Magazine for July 2009
We are pleased that Don Hearn is now recovering at home and continues to make steady progress. Don and Jean are very grateful and most touched by the amount of concern people have shown. Don is still quite low on energy but looks forward to receiving visitors at some time in the not too distant future, when his strength returns. Don and Jean are still very much in everyone's thoughts and prayers.
Richard and Georgina
We send our congratulations and best wishes to Richard Wozencroft and Georgina James for their forthcoming marriage at St Peter's Church, Astley. We wish them every happiness in their life together.
Grand opening of the Hut (Now renamed as The Pavilion)
Following Eucharist Service on Sunday May 24th, the church hut was re-dedicated by Rev Judith Dunkling. How lovely to see that small but worthy building so skilfully restored, and now providing such useful storage for our beautiful church. Aileen Hood thanked the building team, Stewart McGuinness, Barry Winn, Rob Evans and Tony Easteal who did an outstanding job. The churchyard provided an idyllic setting for our barbeque, the wild flowers have seldom looked lovelier and the mown paths showed them off to perfection. We were blessed with glorious weather and many people enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the sunshine. Our thanks to Hilary Morgan for preaching the sermon, Rev Judith Dunkling for the re-dedication, Alan Wozencroft for the first rate barbeque, all of the people who provided the very tempting salads, and not least those who took the washing up home. A lovely relaxed and friendly occasion.
Pop at Parkside
Due to the appalling weather conditions Pop at Parkside had to be cancelled, or rather postponed as it is the intention of the PCC to hold the event later in the summer. A little informal prayer regarding the weather would be most welcome. A special thank-you to Mac and Sally McGuinness and all who helped with the preparation, the orchard looked wonderful. Keep an eye on the local press for details of the new date.
The house-to-house collection amounted to £169.97 of which £127 was gift aided. Thank you to all who responded so generously to this worthwhile charity.
Service round the Preaching Cross on Sunday 28th June at 10am, followed by lunch in the churchyard. Offers of food to Kath please. We look forward to a good attendance.

God our Father, in the presence of your holiness and with the whole company of heaven we tremble with awe; cleanse and renew us to share the message of your Son in good times and in bad, always trusting in your love, and strengthened by the power of your Holy Spirit. — AmenArchive of Previous Parish Magazines
