Parish Magazine for July 2012
We are delighted to announce the safe arrival of Georgia Beatrice Whitby, a daughter for Stuart and Shan and a first grandchild for Alan and Ysy Wozencroft of Whitton Farm, born on May 28th at Heath Hospital, Cardiff weighing in at 7lbs 3oz. Congratulations and best wishes from us all.
Thank you to all who kindly returned their Christian Aid envelopes to me and responded generously to this worthwhile charity. The amount was down on previous years as was the overall Team total.
Queen's Diamond Jubilee
Many thanks to those who so kindly and generously opened their homes to enable us to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee over the extended bank holiday weekend. We all had a wonderful time and despite the inclement weather I know everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Once again grateful thanks to those concerned for their hospitality and for the generous contributions towards the ‘eats’.
As I write we are awaiting the results of both the bat survey and the tests on the inside roof panels (whether they are asbestos or not) – until these results are known we are unable to proceed with tenders for the roof repairs. We will keep you posted.
If you have not already visited the churchyard recently, please do so and view the magnificent array of ox eye daises, they look even better as the evening light is fading – I think they are the best ever!
Please make sure you don't miss our concert featuring the Team Spirit Choir on Saturday 7th July in church, commencing at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50 which includes drinks and canapés. We look forward to a good attendance; please obtain your tickets from Michael Holmes (890332). It promises to be a good evening.
Preaching Cross Service
Come and join us for our annual service around the Medieval Preaching Cross on Sunday 22nd July at 10am, followed by lunch in the churchyard (weather permitting). We would also be pleased to receive offers of help to cut the grass around the Preaching Cross and on Saturday 21st to help with the erection of gazebos etc. Please contact Michael.
