Parish Magazine for October 2012
We send our congratulations and best wishes to Steve and Fiona Bounds on the safe arrival of James Charles born on 30th August at Ludlow Hospital weighing in at 9lb 5 oz, a brother for Oliver.
It is with gratitude that we thank Aileen Hood for her gift of cushions to use on the church pews by members of the congregation who suffer with back problems! They are beautifully made and very comfortable, much appreciation for the kind thought and deed.
Operation Christmas Child
It's that time again! Leaflets are now available in church. More details next month. We would be grateful for any shoe boxes you may have or if you know of a supply, for us to cover - for many years Gwyther's in Tenbury saved the empty boxes for us and as you know they closed earlier in the year. If you are able to help please let me know. Many thanks.
Our service will be held on Sunday 14th October at 6.30pm followed by Harvest Supper at Hope Bagot and Whitton Village Hall. We are delighted that Rev John Haslam who is one of the Queen's Chaplains has kindly accepted our invitation to preach at this service. Some of you may remember John taking services at Whitton in the past. We look forward to welcoming him back. May I please ask for your usual generous offer of fruit, veg, foliage and donations of dried and tinned goods. The latter will be donated to the CAB Christmas Appeal for distribution to those in need in the community. The church decoration will take place on the Saturday. As is our custom at Harvest the collection will be given to Sight Savers. Please bring your own drinks - glasses will be provided. Offers of food to Kath Bills on 01299 270367 please by 3rd October. We look forward to a full church. Any help in decorating the Village Hall for the Harvest Supper would be most welcome. If you have any greenery or similar and a little time to spare please come at 10am on Friday morning. See you there.
We still have quite a stock of Christmas Cards depicting the Burne-Jones/William Morris window. These can be collected from the church or ordered from Michael Holmes (890332).
This year's concert will be held on Friday 7th December at 7.30pm. Tickets at £6 each will cover the draw, punch and mince pies. Music will be by the Bell Inn Band. We look forward to a packed church. Tickets will be available shortly from Michael Holmes (890332).
The next PCC meeting will be held at Croft Cottage, Snitton Lane by kind invitation of Tony and Topsy Easteal on Monday 22nd October at 7.30pm.
We were saddened to hear of Edie Rhoden's death. She had been a long-term supporter of the 49 Club, always very anxious to pay on time, and sometimes extremely lucky. Howebver, she never topped her winning streak in 2010 when she won five times! We cannot promise such a winning streak to anyone who takes over her number (27), but it is of course now available, and you never know! If anyone would like to take on number 27 please let Sally or Michael know. — Sally Thompson

Prayer for Harvest
Almighty and everlasting God, we offer you our hearty thanks for your fatherly goodness and care in giving us the fruits of the earth in their season. Give us grace to use them rightly, to your glory, for our own wellbeing and for the relief of those in need. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.Archive of Previous Parish Magazines
