Parish Magazine for January 2013
Tony and I would like to wish you all a SAFE AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR
We were all very sorry to learn of the death of Mrs Mary Douglas, who passed away suddenly on Tuesday 27th November. Mary had come to live with her daughter Ann Kemp at The Cottage in early March and when able Mary worshipped at St Mary's on a number of occasions. We extend our deepest sympathy to Ann and her two brothers and all the family; you are all very much in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Mary, may you rest in peace.
Many, many thanks to all who gave so generously to the CAB Christmas Hamper Appeal. In Whitton we had a fantastic response and I know that your generosity will be greatly appreciated by all those who will receive hampers this Christmas time.
We also send our annual thanks to David Rhoden for once again kindly cutting the church hedge to his usual high standard — David it looks superb. Thank You.
We are most grateful to Andrew Williams for all the hard work that has been put into cutting and trimming around the churchyard. It is a great improvement.
Operation Christmas Child
Many thanks for the terrific response once again to the Shoebox Appeal. This year I took three loads in the jeep to the warehouse which was in Stourport — after failing to find the location around the one way system I took one of my grandsons to help navigate and unload. He was most impressed when he saw the large warehouse with boxes and bags all over the place and said seeing the gifts made him feel that Christmas really was coming (he's only 24!!!!). So thank you everyone for the boxes, the hats, mittens and scarves and for all your generous donations. I will report later when we get news of the arrival of the gifts at their final destination. — Kath Bills
