PCC Meeting

The May PCC meeting was held at Croft Cottage, Snitton Lane, by kind invitation of Tony and Topsy Easteal and was chaired by Rev Claire Lording. The Treasurer Chris Kemp presented members with the up-to-date accounts. The 2014 Parish Share had been paid in full and the Treasurer and Michael Holmes were asked to look into trying to renegotiate the Insurance Premium. The Gift Aid Officer Topsy Easteal reported that she had submitted a claim to HMRC for £663. Tony Easteal informed the meeting that the Architect and the roofer would be meeting on site in August to assess the roof and carry out any minor repairs that were needed. It is hoped that The Church Recording Group will be coming shortly to appraise all the silver and metal goods.

Great Sadness!

It is with great sadness that I have to report the demise of our new vestry roof. After a short and quiet life doing the important job of protecting those of its friends who visit, it has become the victim of a vicious assault by a wayward 250 year old oak tree. What it had done to deserve this is a mystery and seems to be unfair in the extreme. But whoever said that life was fair? The offending tree has had its comeuppance having been chopped up and is being distributed around the parish (£70 per bag - ring Mr Holmes on 890332 for delivery). Quotations are being sought to find a replacement and, together with our very understanding and helpful insurance associates, all should be well in the end. — Tony Easteal
