Christmas Hampers

We are once again supporting the CAB Christmas Hamper Appeal. The hampers will be distributed to families in our parishes. These families are nominated by doctors, police and social services in our community and are families where Christmas will be a time of hardship. If you would like to contribute Michael Holmes has a ‘wish list’ or refer to the list in this magazine. Thank you in anticipation.

Annual Service of Remembrance

On a dry, clear evening a good congregation gathered for our Annual Greete and Whitton Remembrance Service. Rev Sue Foster gave us a thought-provoking address centred around Paul Cummings' memorable display of poppies at The Tower of London, each of the nearly 900,000 representing one of the fallen from the Commonwealth during the first World War. At the end of the service in church we moved to conclude the ceremony with the Act of Remembrance around the floodlit, nearly restored War Memorial Cross. The names of the fallen in the two World Wars from both parishes were read out by Tony Easteal and the Act of Homage was spoken by Chris Kemp and the wreath laid by Sophie Cavenagh and the service concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. Grateful thanks to Aileen Hood for the fine floral displays and Ginny Johnson for accompanying us on the organ.

The church has gratefully received a donation in memory of the late Barbara Brown whose uncle is listed on the War Memorial.
