Parish Magazine for January 2015
Tony and I would like to wish you all A VERY HAPPY AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR.
Many, many thanks to all who gave so generously to the CAB Christmas Hamper Appeal. I know that your generosity will be greatly appreciated by all those who will receive hampers this Christmas time.
Grateful thanks to Andrew Williams for all the hard work he has put into cutting and trimming around the churchyard. It is a great improvement.
I am writing on behalf of Tenbury Teme Valley Band to thank the people of Whitton for the warm and hospitable welcome we received when performing at Whitton Church on 5th December.
Everyone in the band enjoyed the evening and the refreshments were very much appreciated!
Our band has 40 memebers and we would have liked a larger attendance, however unfortunately this was not possible due to illness and unforeseen commitments. It was lovely to hear so many positive comments about the band and our performance and we hope that the evening raised a significant amount for church funds. Thank you for inviting us to share the event with you. — Mary Smith
Almost a full church gave a warm welcome to the first appearance of members of the Teme Valley Band who were well supported by St Mary's Tenbury Hand Bell Ringers, making a return visit by popular demand. The band led us with a number of traditional carols and entertained us with a selection of festive tunes. The evening was augmented by a good variety of readings - thank you to all the readers. Punch and mince pies were enjoyed during the interval when the lucky ticket raffle was drawn.
A big thank you to everyone who helped and provided the refreshments, decorated the church, supplied raffle prizes and especially to Chris Wall who donated the splendid Christmas tree.
On Wednesday 10th December a good number of us met at Court Lodge by kind invitation of Pauline and John Atkinson for our annual Christmas party. We enjoyed a hot supper and one of Mac's quizzes which was won by Mary and Barry Winn with Tony and Topsy Easteal as runners up. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we are most grateful to John and Pauline for providing the venue which was a great start to the festive season. Thank you to everyone who contributed towards the supper, and especially to Mac for all his efforts in producing such an enjoyable general knowledge quiz.
