Parish Magazine for February 2015
Rev Sue Foster officiated at the joint Greete and Whitton Carol Service held on the Sunday before Christmas. The church looked festive and full and provided a wonderful backdrop for the service of nine lessons and carols. Special thanks to Rachel Davenhill for leading the singing and to all those who decorated the Church and provided the refreshments. The collection was in aid of the Children's Society.
The 9pm Christmas Eve Service of Holy Communion with carols was well attended and led by Rev Sue Foster. The singing was augmented by a small choir, Sophie Cavenagh sang the first verse of Once in Royal David's City beautifully and Kate Kemp sang the descants. The singing was uplifting and enhanced the worship. We are hoping to have another small choir for Easter Sunday 5th April. A BIG THANK YOU to Rachel Davenhill for stepping into the breach at the last moment.
Operation Christmas Child
A belated thanks to all who contributed to the shoeboxes again this year - either giving wonderfully filled boxes across the age ranges or by donating extras or generous financial contributions. Many thanks also to the knitters - bags of children's cardigans, hats, gloves, scarves. Being left for me in the Team Office and not having phone numbers I may not have thanked you but these items are much appreciated and have gone to orphanages in Eastern Europe or to refugee camps - I for one have not realised how cold these areas are in winter.
The warehouse in Stourport to which I took our boxes received a total of 10,510 boxes which have been sent to Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan and from Samaritans Purse in excess of 40,000 going to refugee camps in Iraq.
So many thanks to everyone. — Kath Bills
