Parish Magazine for May 2015
This year's joint service took place at St James, Greete and was led by Rev Sue Foster and we thank them for their hospitality.
Friends of Whitton Snowdrop Planting
A small intrepid band braved the elements on March 28th to plant 500 snowdrops on the verge above Stoneoak and this was followed by coffee and hot cross buns at Fairview. Thanks to all.
Unfortunately we were unable to hold Daffodil Daze this year because the display was a little disappointing largely due to an invasion of moles! and they were at their best over the Easter weekend - which was a difficult time for people to help. Nevertheless we are enjoying a fine display of the other wild flowers.
Easter Day Team Dawn Eucharist
On a perfect Easter Day morning we gathered at 6am in the churchyard to light the brazier and commence the Service of Light. After the first hymn we processed into the darkened church with our lighted candles for our communion service during which we renewed our baptismal vows. At the end of the service Rev Sian pointed out the beautiful reflection of the Burne-Jones East window on the baptistery wall and we saw the colours in the stained glass window at its very best.
Afterwards we all retired to Smithy Bungalow for an eggy breakrast. Many thanks to Ray Morris for donating the eggs, Kath Bills for the delicious Simnel cake and to all the kitchen workers.
Finally sincere thanks to all those who made the church look so magnificent with the fine floral decorations.
On this special day we had a new arrival in Whitton. Millie Elizabeth was born to Richard and Sarah, a new grandchild to David and Lyn Wozencroft. Congratulations and best wishes from us all.
A good congregation of over 40 were present for Rev Claire's last service at Whitton. We shall miss her thought-provoking and amusing sermons of which this was one of the very best. Thanks to Jinny for accompanying us once again on the organ - very much appreciated. Thank you.
Afterwards everyone stayed on for a magnificent spread and the opportunity to chat to Claire, and to mark Tony and Topsy's golden wedding anniversary, and to say a temporary farewell to Andrew and Nicole (thank you for being such active members of the Whitton community).
Many thanks to all those who contributed generously to the excellent refreshments.

Prayer for Christian Aid Week
Loving God, in Jesus you offer life to the world and love to its people. When we see life only for ourselves, forgive us. Help us to hear your transforming love speaking to us of respect, dignity and worth, telling us that we are loved and that we are to love one another. In the knowledge of this love, work through us to bring your justice to the world, this Christian Aid Week and beyond.Archive of Previous Parish Magazines
