Parish Magazine for November 2015
On a beautiful autumn morning we gathered at St Mary's to give thanks for the bounty of God's gifts at this time of harvest. All the traditional hymns were sung (thank you Jinny for your choice of hymns). The service was led by Tony Easteal and I'm sure we will all remember the story that he told us! Thank you Tony.
The church looked resplendent with beautiful floral decorations and an impressive display of produce on the steps of the sacristy. Many thanks to those who gave of their time and talents in producing such a wonderful presentation. It was a special delight to see some children in the church and special thanks to Sam and Katie Shakespeare and Amanda Cavenagh for their participation and help during the service. Thanks also to Pat and Erica Waite, Kath Bills, Michael Jenkins, Mark Shakespeare, Mary Hyslop-Winn, Topsy Easteal and Anthony Brand. As is our custom the collection from the service will be donated to Sight Savers. After the service around thirty of the congregation gathered at Hope Bagot and Whitton Village Hall for the Harvest Lunch where a mouth-watering meal was served. As always many, many thanks to everyone who cooked, served, washed up, donated the food and cleaned the hall twice!! and not forgetting all those who kindly donated goods and flowers to decorate the church and donated items for the raffle and we thank Jean Wall for organising the latter. The non-perishable goods have been donated to the NILS Food Bank.
We are once again supporting the CAB Christmas Hamper Appeal. The hampers will be distributed to families in our parishes. These families are nominated by doctors, police and social services in our community and are families where Christmas will be a time of hardship. If you would like to contribute Michael Holmes has a ‘wish list’ and would be pleased to furnish you with a list of suitable items. Thank you in anticipation.
Operation Christmas Child
Yes it's that time again - Operation Christmas Child has been working now for 25 years to show God's love by taking gifts from you to children who have virtually nothing. I have a small supply of boxes together with the leaflets. I know a number of you are already collecting items for the boxes. Could you please return to either Kath or Michael. Your efforts will be appreciated.

It was a joy to welcome the family and friends for the Baptism of Harry, second son to Nicky and Georgia and second grandchild for John and Dawn Hoskins of The Bungalow. Rev Sian Harris conducted a warm and friendly service and Harry behaved himself impeccably throughout the service. Afterwards the congregation enjoyed Christening cake and coffee. Many thanks to Kath Bills for producing such an excellent cake.
Prayer for Remembrance
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. — John 14 verse 27Archive of Previous Parish Magazines
