Parish Magazine for December 2015
Annual Service of Remembrance
A meaningful Service of Remembrance was led by Peter Sandall who surprised us all with a musical address which was a poem written by an Australian veteran, set to the music and sung by Peter accompanied by himself on guitar - the poem was centred on the Gallipoli campaign and told of the terrible sacrifices made not only by this country but the Commonwealth as well. Due to the inclement weather we couldn't have the Act of Remembrance around the War Memorial but it took place inside the church. Hopefully next year, weather permitting, the Act of Remembrance will be held outside. One of the youngest members, Amanda Cavenagh, laid the wreath at the foot of the altar, but it was later placed on the War Memorial by Tony Easteal and Michael Jenkins.
A BIG THANK YOU to David Rhoden for his superb skill in the cutting of the churchyard roadside hedge - it looks magnificent. Also thanks to Clare, Sophie and Amanda Cavenagh for doing such an excellent job in raking and clearing the leaves off the paths and part of the churchyard in time for the Remembrance Service.

It was a pleasure to welcome the family and friends of Richard Wozencroft and Sarah Yates for the Baptism of Millie who behaved impeccably throughout. Rev Sian Harris conducted a joyful service which was followed by coffee and delicious christening cake generously made and provided by Kath Bills which is a tradition in our church.
As we come to the end of another year, once again I would like to thank everyone who has participated in the life and work of the church and community. Special thanks to our Team Clergy, Retired Clergy and members of the Local Ministry Development Group for continuing to make our worship at St Mary's so special. A big thank you to Jinny Johnson for so kindly playing the organ for us at Evensong. It makes a huge difference to have live music; we also thank her husband Geoff for his support.
Thank you for being part of it and a very Happy and Blessed Christmas to you all.
A text for Christmas time
Father God, when your precious Son became a tiny baby in a stable in Bethlehem in poverty and simplicity, you changed our world. As we imagine those surroundings, we join with the shepherds and the wise men in wonder and praise. We thank you for our material lives, praise you for our spiritual lives, and trust in you for our eternal life. — AmenArchive of Previous Parish Magazines
