Wildflower Festival 19th June

A great deal of effort went into the planning and preparation for the day. Mary Hyslop-Winn held a craft session on the Tuesday prior to the event and a wonderful display of flower artwork was produced and is still on display in the church for visitors to enjoy, as is a fine photographic record of the event beautifully produced by Sally Thompson, which includes the beautiful/superb flower arrangements. The day also included a display of Aileen Hood's crafts which added to the interest and variety on offer.

The Tree Bingo run by the Rev Sylvia Turner and compiled in conjunction with Joan Harris was designed for children but proved a big hit with those young at heart! Throughout the day Janet Breese could be seen painting views of the churchyard and visitors were very interested to see a talented local artist at work. A VERY BIG THANK YOU to everyone who worked so hard both before and on the day - who provided items for sale and food for the refreshments. The weather was a disappointment. The day was rounded off by a short service in the tent compiled and led by Rev Sylvia Turner on the theme of Wild Flowers.

Preaching Cross Service

The day turned out unexpectedly bright and the decision was made to hold the service around the South Porch in full view of the Preaching Cross. Rev Sian Harris conducted the service and Jinny moved seamlessly from organ to keyboard! (Thank you to Michael Jenkins for the loan of his keyboard.) Following coffee we adjourned to the North Side and enjoyed a fine buffet lunch washed down by plenty of Pimm's under the only two remaining gazebos still standing (unlike some of the congregation after the Pimm's!!). Thanks to everyone who contributed to making it a memorable day.

Despite the rain throughout the day a dry spell allowed us to hold the Service in the delightful garden of The White House, Hope Bagot, by kind invitation of Betty and Bill. The service was ably led by Tony Easteal and much enjoyed by all. Afterwards we adjourned indoors for refreshments. Thank you to Betty and Bill for providing the venue and those who provided the refreshments..

Prayer for the month

Remember us, faithful God, when our world is so full of misery and disaster and you seem so far away; hope is but a distant dream. Remember us, faithful God, and remind us that you never give up on us; do not let us give up on you. — Amen
